About

We are renters and homeowners, students, workers, and retirees, long time residents and newcomers working together to increase voter engagement in our neighborhood and beyond.

Fairmount Votes was formed in 2018 by neighbors who knew we could increase voter turnout for the Midterm Elections. We hung flyers on phone polls around the neighborhood and got more than 100 responses. Over three weeks we knocked 6,000 doors in Fairmount, Francisville, Spring Garden, and Brewerytown, catapulting turnout in our ward to the fourth highest in the city.

In the 2019 Philadelphia municipal elections, we highlighted candidates who were committed to advocating for people of color, working families, immigrants, disenfranchised voters, the LGBTQ community, and ending mass incarceration. We packed the house for a candidates meet-and-greet, and worked on a letter-writing campaign to 2,000 neighbors. We were thrilled to have helped elect judges and council people who align with our values.

In the 2020 primary, through letter writing, phone calling, and texting, we organized a massive vote-by-mail push and got the second-highest application rate in the city. We look forward to harnessing our volunteer power to get out the vote in the general election.
